Pamela Anderson denies connection to 'Baywatch' docuseries

The Last Showgirl star weighed in on Hulu's recent four-part docuseries about Baywatch, the '90s TV show that rocketed Anderson to fame, making sure everyone knew she wasn't a part of it and had no interest in revisiting this time in her life.

“Even today, someone showed me something that Hulu is doing, some kind of 'Baywatch' (documentary) that I have nothing to do with,” Anderson, 57, told Glamor magazine in an interview published Monday.

In Anderson's view, “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun” led people to believe that she was involved in the project because it promised to introduce original members of the series and because it used old interviews with the star.

“And so they just dug up an interview, but I had nothing to do with that documentary,” Anderson explained. “They begged everyone around me. They tried to get my kids to talk me into it. They said they would give them producer credits.”

“I mean, they tried everything,” she continued. “And I said, 'No, I really don't want to go backwards.'”

Anderson discussed the documentary series, which dropped Aug. 28, while discussing another current television project (also on Hulu) that delves into Anderson's past, the miniseries Pam & Tommy, about the theft and the Illegal release of her goes sex tape from ex-husband Tommy Lee.

Although show creator Robert Siegel and lead actress Lily James, who plays Anderson, say they have tried to reach out to her, she insists that no one from the show has ever approached her.

“I’ve never had any input. I didn’t know anything about it,” Anderson said.

Reflecting on how the miniseries brought back painful memories of the leaked sex tape — something she calls “a complete crime” — Anderson confessed, “It hit me a lot harder than I imagined.”

“Because the thought made me so sick when it came out, this Hulu thing,” she added. “It really felt like another kick in the gut that people might find so entertaining. And that was…I think I lost my husband, my mind, my career.”

“At the moment I didn’t notice. It's like post-trauma, and then you just start acting out,” Anderson continued, recalling how she acted in the years following the sex tape scandal.

“And I knew that a lot of things happened to me that I could have handled differently. In this world, how you manage your career really matters. And I was just in the Wild West.”

In Anderson's “Wild West,” she made a living by taking jobs that she might not have gotten under other circumstances, like appearing on “Big Brother.” But today she is building a new life for herself.

“Well, it’s shedding those layers, those protective layers,” she said of her new era. “From a very young age, I realized that I was playing roles all my life. I had such a strong imagination. And that's exactly what I did.

“I didn’t know it was a job,” she added. “And then when I moved here (from Canada to the US) and then played Playboy or was married to Tommy or whatever, I just always wanted to be the best that I could be. What is a Playmate? What is a rock star's wife? What is a “Baywatch” (star)?

“The last few years it's been an effort to just stay on my own and figure out what I love, what I like, what I want to do,” she explained.

Anderson is busy these days. She attended the premiere of The Last Showgirl at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, which is already garnering accolades, and is currently filming a reboot of the comedy series Naked Gun opposite Liam Neeson completed.

The star also released a documentary about her life last year – “Pamela, A Love Story” – and launched two lifestyle shows on HGTV Canada, “Pamela's Cooking With Love” and “Pamela's Garden of Eden.”
