Postgame odds: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 51, New Orleans Saints 27

SAINTS COACH DENNIS ALLEN

“Just a few injury contracts to bring your attention to it. Chris Olave is in the concussion protocol, and Tyrann Mathieu suffered a forearm injury and did not return to the game. These are the injuries that I know of so far. “I am deeply disappointed with the game. It wasn't good enough from a playing perspective. We need to get a few guys healthy, but we need to play better than we did today in all areas.

“We didn’t tackle. I think that was the biggest thing. I thought our tackling in the game was terrible. If you don't tackle, you miss out on explosive plays, you miss out on big plays. It just kept going.” us a little bit, but it wasn’t good enough.

“We have to tackle things better. I thought that was the biggest thing in the game. We didn't tackle anything in the game. Make no mistake, when it comes to defense, it's on me. That's what I have to do.' I have to make sure we understand what we're doing, or whether we need to do more tackling drills – whatever the case may be, but it wasn't a good defensive performance at all. This has to be an area we can count on. It was an area we could count on, but at the moment it is not.

About Spencer Rattler's appearance:

“Overall I think he’s done some good things. There were some encouraging things, some things he'll learn from, from a failure perspective on his part. I don't think we did enough around him to help him. It was tough.” I thought they really won the inside part of the line of scrimmage, really probably on both sides of the ball on the line of scrimmage. I thought he did some things really well at the start of the game. Especially in the first half the pressure got a little bit more. We weren't able to defend as well, which made it a little more challenging for him.”

Regarding possible similarities in the problems in coping:

“Part of it is the angles. It's the technology. It's closure. There are a lot of fundamental things that weren't good enough in tackling. I think it starts with leverage and angles. That's where it starts, then the basics of actually making one. We need to finish better, but that's two weeks in a row where we haven't done a good job. That's probably our biggest concern. You're talking about explosive plays on underlying plays that become explosive plays.

Whether the tackle can be resolved before Thursday's game against the Broncos:

“It’s something we’d better fix in four days.”

If there is a reason the defense is struggling:

“I don't really know. Do you understand what I mean? I don't have an answer to what that challenge is at the moment. One of the areas it starts with is putting yourself in a position to be able to do that. “When you leave the field, you make fewer plays. I think that's part of our problem too.

On the subject of attack technique vs. effort:

“I think it's a combination of both. I think later in the game we could have attacked the ball carrier a little more. We'll watch the tape, but it wasn't good enough. I have to do better.” “

How to refocus on Thursday evening:

“You're probably a little early to ask me that question.”

On the team's mindset in light of the injuries:

“It's a challenge, but we can't sit here and sulk and complain. We have to figure out how to get better. I told the team that we have to get better and that we just have to have a short period of time to do it. “Everyone has to look at themselves – coaches, players, everyone – and make sure we do everything we can to to get things moving in the right direction because right now it’s not where we want it to be.”

About the use of the team:

“I say we missed a lot of tackles and we need to improve our tackling.”

On coaching and schematic changes:

“We made a few changes as the game went on in terms of the way we lined up up front to try and deal with some of the runs we were getting. We played poorly and when.” When you do that, of course you have to look out for yourself as a coach, all the coordinators and position coaches. I think we all need to look at ourselves and see how we can get better this week.

On Johnathan Abrams' attempt to take a break:

“The officers didn’t see it. It happened exactly at the time the snapshot was taken. I don’t think anyone actually saw it in time to call timeout.”

On the decision to stick with the corners on the sides:

“Last year we were able to keep up with them in the first game, and then in the second game we couldn’t keep up. I think we have confidence in our guys. I didn't feel like that was the challenge today. I felt like the challenge was down there. “Throws that turned into long plays and the running plays that turned into long plays because we didn't get them on the floor as well as we needed to.”

“There was a lot to be frustrated about. There's not a lot of areas – other than three takeaways in the game – there weren't a lot of areas defensively that we can say were good. I want to get back to the draw. “We get on board and figure out how we can get better.

On team morale on the sidelines:

“I think the whole first half our guys were involved, our guys were excited (and) our guys kept fighting. Even though we lost guys like Chris Olave, who I think is an important part of what we do, and Tyrann.” Mathieu and some of those guys, I thought our guys had a lot of energy in the building at that point. It only started snowing in the second half.

On his additional advice for Spencer Rattler before his first start:

“Nothing other than just going out and playing. Do you understand what I mean? Let's not put too much pressure on this deal. Just go out and do what you've been doing since you (points) were so high (young).” ).

On whether he sticks with starting Rattler at quarterback:

“Yes, that is my intention.”
