Preview: The Bruins travel to Philly for the first of two preseason meetings

Opposite perspective: Wide street hockey

Game notes

  • The Bruins and Flyers will face off for the first of two straight games, with the next one being Tuesday at TD Garden.
  • The Flyers are 2-1-0 in the preseason, with 6-2 and 2-0 wins over the Capitals and Islanders, respectively, followed by a 5-0 loss to Montreal.
  • Highly touted Matvei Michkov is off to a good start to the preseason for the Flyers, with the teenager posting totals of 1G-3A-4PTS in two games.
  • As of Friday evening, the Bruins had not announced any roster transactions, meaning there was no new round of cuts. There's always a chance they trim the roster a bit before tonight's game, or they could wait until two days off on Sunday and Monday to make their changes.
  • I don't expect bigger names like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy to play in back-to-back games, so it remains to be seen how NHL-heavy the B's lineup is tonight.
  • Having not played in Manhattan, it stands to reason that Fabian Lysell and Georgii Merkulov will be back in action tonight, giving each other a chance to showcase their skills before any roster cuts occur.
  • Regarding the TV schedule: I can't find out where/if this game is being broadcast in the Boston area. NESN will show the Red Sox's penultimate game starting at 4:10 p.m. NESN+ will not show the Bruins game on its broadcast schedule. It could be that they wait to see if the Red Sox game ends in time to get the Bruins on NESN, or it could not be shown at all. We will try to find out and sort it out on Saturday.

Enjoy the start of your weekend!
