Days before the news that former Cleveland Guardians manager Terry “Tito” Francona would be the new manager of the Cincinnati Reds, Francona appeared on Audacy's “Pitch and Moan” podcast and discussed “Baseball Isn't Boring.” Topics like his health, his future and more.

Last October, Francona announced he was retiring from MLB after 11 seasons in Cleveland, and he underwent surgery to replace his right shoulder and repair a double hernia. And in 2017, he underwent cardiac ablation for an irregular heartbeat.

The three-time American League Manager of the Year won World Series titles with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and 2007 and ranks 13th in MLB history as a manager.

ā€œIā€™m fine,ā€ Francona told Courtney Finnicum on the podcast. ā€œI've actually been surgery-free for a year, which is always a good thing. And since I wasn't taking part in the game, I was able to pay a little attention to my diet. Things you don't do when you're kind of in it.” I lost something that I desperately needed 24/7, but it still helps me feel good because it's been a few years.
