Saints' Derek Carr had a classy response to Michael Thomas' heated rant on social media

Saints' Derek Carr had a classy response to Michael Thomas' heated rant on social media

Derek Carr doesn't worry about Michael Thomas' opinions.

On Sunday, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was knocked down after attempting to catch a high pass from Carr over the middle. Olave was on the ground for several minutes and had to be carted off the field. Shortly after, former Saints receiver Michael Thomas weighed in on social media and criticized Carr's quarterback skills. He suggested that Carr's pass was the reason Olave suffered a concussion.

After the Saints lost 23-22 to the Carolina Panthers, Carr was asked about his former teammate's tirade. He answered as elegantly as he could.

“I love Mike,” Carr said. “And if he does that, of course I don’t care. You know, I've had so many teammates over the years and he's like the guy who couldn't get along with me. And I don't know what I did to him, I don't know why he feels this way. I'm sorry he feels like he has to do that.

Carr claimed that Thomas never called him to discuss their differences, but that Carr called Thomas several times. He added that he wishes Thomas well and hopes he ends up on a team.

Thomas, 31, is currently a free agent. He played for the Saints in 2023 with Carr as his quarterback. He finished the season with 39 receptions for 448 yards and one touchdown in 10 games.
