Sam Elliot tells men in Kamala Harris ad who to vote for

In a new promotional video from a former anti-Trump Republican group, actor Sam Elliot urges voters to “be a man and vote for a woman.”

Elliot, known for his appearance as a stereotypical American cowboy and who starred in the films “The Big Lebowski” and “A Star is Born,” talks about shots of American landscapes, including farms and a person on a horse.

The ad, produced by the “pro-democracy” group “The Lincoln Project,” portrays Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate with “more courage, more honor and more guts” than former President Donald Trump.

“What the hell are you waiting for?” Elliot says in the ad. “Because when it comes to the woman thing, it's time to get over it.”

The Bro Voice: Trump and Harris argue about what it means to be a man in America

Sam Elliot's commercial for Harris points to central campaign theme

Elliot's masculine appeal to voters to support Harris points to a theme that is emerging across all campaign issues: gender.

Even before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, abortion access was a mobilizing issue for Democratic-leaning women. With Harris as the candidate, America has the chance to elect the first female president in U.S. history for the second time in a decade.

Trump's campaign has focused on courting young male voters through appearances with influential figures such as Adin Ross, Logan Paul and Theo Von. He has also touted his support for Bitcoin, which is popular among young white men.

Meanwhile, Republican running mate JD Vance has come under fire for his comments about “childless cat ladies,” Democratic running mate Tim Walz has emphasized the classic father role, and Harris' husband Doug Emhoff has put his career on hold to campaign for his wife.

Polls show that there is a gender gap in the candidate's support, with Harris leading among women and Trump among men – a phenomenon that is amplified among young voters, who typically vote more women than men.
