Sean Payton compared Bo Nix to an unlikely movie character

The Denver Broncos are 3-2 after a win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5. Bo Nix, the Broncos' rookie quarterback, completed 19 of 27 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the win. It was the best statistical performance of his young career and Denver has now rattled off three straight wins.

However, not everything is going smoothly. He once had trouble communicating with his teammates and had a very heated exchange with his coach that was caught on camera. After the game, Sean Payton tried to explain their relationship by comparing Nix to…Ferris Bueller?

“That’s part of the deal. Last year, all of a sudden… there's just a little bit of Ferris Bueller left in this player that we need to get rid of,” Payton explained. “OK? I'm talking about Bo. I love him more than anything, and sometimes it’s my love language, okay?”

When asked what he meant by Ferris, Bueller Payton continued, saying, “It’s just funny. Ferris is kind of quirky and does his own thing every now and then. I mean, I don't know. Have you seen the movie?” Have you ever seen it? He still has a little bit of Ferris Bueller in him, maybe a little subtle. It's being flipped, but it's all good. And I'm like, it just is and yeah, it is.

It's like that Boss baby Tweet but Sean Payton only saw Ferris Bueller's day off and it's literally the only young person he's ever seen on the big screen. Ferris constantly outwits every authority figure in his life so he can do whatever he wants, and he is adored by everyone, including the Jocks, Motorheads, Geeks, Bloods, Wastoids, and Dweebies, all of whom think he's a righteous guy . What does this have to do with calling an acoustic signal?

Nix was then asked about the Bueller comparison when he addressed the media. He agreed with Payton, saying, “Yeah, I saw the movie, but you know, I think it’s funny. I think that literally explains the situation, that we're just out there with a lot of competition and fire. And we can do that.’ Have those conversations and go right ahead and score a few more touchdowns. It doesn't bother us.

Payton really needs to be pressed on this because it's unclear whether he is Ferris' father or Ed Rooney. Or maybe he's just intrigued by the possibility of a parade.
