Section of downtown Minneapolis to be remodeled ahead of Lynx playoff game

Tensions are building across the state as the Minnesota Lynx could eliminate the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday in the second game of a best-of-three WNBA playoff series.

The team finished second in the Western Conference and a win on Wednesday night will put them in the semifinals, where they would face either the Connecticut Sun or Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark and the rest of the Indiana Fever.

Anyone driving through downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday will see new street signs featuring the Lynx logo. Additionally, Mayor Jacob Frey was out early in the morning with the city's public works department to help paint the sidewalk in front of the Target Center and celebrate the team.

Kickoff for Wednesday's game is at 8:30 p.m. at Target Center. Tickets are still available and start at about $30. Courtside tickets start at $300. Each fan in attendance will receive a Lynx towel to cheer on the home team.

“We have such a great fan base. Our staff does a great job decorating the interior and making sure everything looks the way it looks, and the fans do a great job making it sound the way it sounds,” Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve said. “I think our players really enjoy it.”

If a third game is necessary, the teams will travel to Phoenix for a Thursday meeting.
