“SNL” brilliantly spoofs UFC promos with Ariana Grande as Celine Dion

While continuing its historic 50th season on Saturday, NBC sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” took aim at the UFC.

Featuring the absurd vocal talents of guest host Ariana Grande, a master impressionist, the singer played another legendary musician, Canadian singer Céline Dion – of whom Grande delivers a spot-on interpretation – in a pre-recorded commercial parody.

It stars Grande Dion doing a promo for UFC 308, which takes place in Abu Dhabi on October 26th. She sings parts of Dion's 1996 cover of “It's All Coming Back to Me Now,” but changes the lyrics to fit the octagon.

While replacing the original verse with things like, “There were bones broken and there were knees on the balls,” Grande sings about vintage UFC highlights. “A woman with the tightest French braids – and the flattest face” is former women’s strawweight world champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the highlights. “An angry man with a cauliflower ear and a crooked nose” is Mike Perry. The silence of the crowd as a 300 pound Bosnian breaks out his own teeth. This is the UFC.”

The parody even takes a playful jab at the UFC's revolving-door broadcast booth and its “dozens of commentators, all bald and wearing the shiniest shirts.”
