Standing together against the billionaire class and their twin parties – Claudia & Karina 2024

Standing together against the billionaire class and their twin parties – Claudia & Karina 2024

The presidential campaign of Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia is pleased to announce two important agreements aimed at maximizing the influence of progressive candidates who challenge the two-party system.

The Claudia Karina Campaign has achieved ballot status in 19 states and write-in status in an additional 24 states plus Washington, DC, and in all of these states we are calling on people to vote socialist! Elsewhere, we encourage our supporters to vote for anti-genocide and anti-Wall Street bipartisan candidates wherever possible. In Alaska, we are calling on our supporters to vote for Cornel West and Melina Abdullah of the Justice for All Party, who in turn are calling on their supporters to vote for Claudia and Karina in Florida, Hawaii, New Mexico, Mississippi, and Tennessee. In Montana and Arkansas, we are calling on our supporters to vote for Jill Stein and Butch Ware of the Green Party, who are calling on their supporters to vote for Claudia and Karina in Indiana and North Dakota.

In Alaska, West/Abdullah is listed on the ballot but we are not, while the opposite is true in Florida, Hawaii, New Mexico, Mississippi and Tennessee. In Montana and Arkansas, Stein/Ware is listed on the ballot but we are not, while in Indiana and North Dakota we have official write-in status but Stein/Ware is not.

These agreements are based on common principles. All three of our campaigns oppose the US war machine and the genocide of the Palestinians. We believe that the basic needs of a life of dignity – such as housing, healthcare, education and a job with a living wage – should be guaranteed rights. We oppose racism in all its forms and demand reparations for Black America. We share the understanding that the destruction of the environment is based on capitalist exploitation. This does not mean that we agree on all issues or have exactly the same vision for the future. But these core values put us on the same page in the main battle of our time: the fight to end the dictatorship of the billionaire class and build a new system that puts people and the planet first.

This is a moment of crisis for working people. It has become nearly impossible to afford basic necessities, climate change is causing devastating natural disasters, abortion rights are being restricted, and U.S. support for Israel's genocide in Gaza threatens to trigger a massive regional war. But at the same time, the super-rich are getting richer, and defense and fossil fuel executives are lining their pockets while the world burns. Things cannot continue like this – we need a new system!

And yet Democratic Party politicians have the audacity to call progressive third-party campaigns helping Trump “spoilers,” as if they were not partly responsible for this terrible state of society that is pushing people to rightly seek an alternative seek. Both Democrats and Republicans promise the world during their campaigns, but never solve the problems they want to address. Instead, they serve their true constituents on Wall Street and in corporate boardrooms. It is both a moral and a practical necessity to break with the two-party system.

The fight for a better world will continue long after November 5th. Ensuring the largest possible number of votes for progressive third-party candidates is a critical step. What matters most, however, is what we do after Election Day. The only way to bring about fundamental change is for people to organize and demand and fight with enough determination to overcome the obstacles placed in their path by the rich and powerful. We look forward to building the greatest unity possible for the coming fight.
