Stevie Nicks has returned triumphantly Saturday Night Live!

The 76-year-old singer appeared as the musical guest during the Oct. 12 episode of the late-night comedy sketch series hosted by Ariana Grande.

Her appearance came over 40 years after her first appearance SNL. Nicks first made her musical guest debut in December 1983, in the eighth episode of the 9th season. Hosted by Flip Wilson, the musician performed “Stand Back” and “Nightbird” from her second solo studio album. The wild heart.

Later in the show, Nicks made her second appearance, singing her 1981 track “Edge of Seventeen.” This performance was slightly delayed due to a technical issue that was quickly resolved, but resulted in a portrait of the singer appearing on screen, followed by several commercials before she began the track to cheers SNL Crowd.

Nicks recently recalled the moment she performed for the first time SNL in an email interview with PEOPLE. “This was about two and a half years into my solo career, so it was nerve-wracking because it wasn't Fleetwood Mac; it was my solo career, so it was very scary to go on the show if you've been in one.” Huge band and here we go Saturday Night Live as a solo artist,” she said.

The “Edge of Seventeen” singer added that in addition to being nervous, she also had a problem when her friend “freaked out and had terrible stage fright” just before she was set to perform her second song live with the star.

“It was one of those shows where, despite the terrible wrench that was thrown in the middle of it, it went beautifully,” Nicks explained. “I've never been more proud of anything than I was this evening. It was a magical show and I loved it and it definitely boosted my solo career.”
