“Terrifier 3” is the first horror film France has banned for minors since “Saw 3” in 2006!

In the wake of Damien Leones Slasher sequel horror 3 After several people walked out of the UK premiere, the classification committee in France caused a stir and literally banned minors from entering horror 3.

A first for the horror genre since its release from director Darren Lynn Bousman Saw 3 Back in 2006, the classification committee in France recommended banning the film for minors under 18, as distributors ESC Éditions, Shadowz Films and Factoris Films told us.

In other words: people under 18 are not allowed to go to the cinema horror 3.

This particular rating is very rarely used and is equivalent to the MPA's NC-17 rating here in the United States. In the States, horror 3 is coming to cinemas completely UNRATED.

The film's French distributors tell Bloody Disgusting: “We can only regret this unexpected final decision, which will seriously hamper the release of the film, expected by tens of thousands of French viewers and scheduled (and of course kept) for October 9th. horror 3 is an auteur film in the purest tradition of the slasher genre, with completely “grand-guignolesque” and unrealistic violence. The film never takes itself too seriously and we know viewers will have the distance and maturity needed to understand and appreciate this artistic approach.”

“In addition, for over two years we have been working daily and tirelessly to defend the free, creative and radical genre cinema that has been praised by press and audiences alike,” the teams continued. “The audience for these films, even teenagers, are passionate film lovers who view the works and the cinemas that show them with respect.

“The history of genre cinema, its excesses and atrocities are closely linked to the history of cinema itself. Restricting audience access will always be a serious decision with a troubling message that isolates authors and distances them from their audiences.”

We have made contact Saw 3 Director Darren Lynn Bousman, who had exactly this experience, for comment. He tells Bloody Disgusting: “Hell yeah! Wear this like a badge of honor!”

Bousman adds: ““Art” is meant to make people uncomfortable.”

The third part of the Seen The franchise was banned for minors back in 2006 by the French Culture Minister, who said the film contained “incessant and unbearable sadism.”

Reuters described: “The 18-plus rating is only used in exceptional cases when it is judged to be too extreme for the 16-plus rating, which usually applies to mainstream films that contain sex or strong violence.”
