For the second time in three games, the Los Angeles Dodgers hit hard.

The Dodgers offense erupted and the New York Mets offense stalled as Los Angeles rolled to an 8-0 win to take a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series.

The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead early in the second, thanks largely to sloppy Mets defense that led to two unearned runs by New York starter Luis Severino. New York posed a threat in the bottom of the second, but Mets slugger Francisco Lindor struck out with the bases loaded to end that threat.

The teams traded zeros until the sixth inning, when Kike Hernandez hit a two-run home run to give Los Angeles a 4-0 lead on a lively night in Queens. The Mets rallied again, but “OMG” singer Jose Iglesias fumbled a 5-4-3 double play, derailing another rally.

The Dodgers didn't need much help, but Shohei Ohtani put the icing on the cake with a long three-run home run in the eighth inning to give them a 7-0 lead. In the ninth, Max Muncy hit a solo home run to cap the scoring.

Dodgers' Dave Roberts still enjoys 'beating the team all over town'

Walker Buehler went scoreless for just four innings, and the Dodgers didn't dare let him face the lineup a third time (he also had 90 pitches). But four relievers combined for five scoreless frames. Meanwhile, Reed Garrett and Tylor Megill combined for six earned runs in their 4.1 innings, with Megill credited for four of them.

It's not unfamiliar territory for the Mets, who have often had their backs against the wall over the last two weeks. For this, Mets legend Darryl Strawberry praised this year's team, saying it was something this team had in common with his legendary 1986 team.

However, the Mets need to act quickly.
