The Illinois Lottery reports revenue of 3 million in 2024

CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVO) – The Illinois Lottery announced a record-breaking year of winnings to the state of Illinois on Thursday, bringing in $883.6 million.

Overall, the lottery reported revenue of $3.86 billion, more than the previous year.

“The Illinois Lottery has been a valuable state asset since its inception, and now 99% of revenues go to the Common School Fund,” said Gov. JB Pritzker. “This year, we are proud to celebrate both the lottery’s golden anniversary and another record year of net receipts benefiting our K-12 students and other good causes such as supporting Illinois veterans and awards of scholarships for the Illinois DREAM Fund.”

From May to October of this year, the Illinois Lottery celebrated its 50th anniversary by introducing a family of instant tickets called “ Celebration with second chance drawings. The Illinois Lottery also held sweepstakes where players could win gift cards and held events throughout the state offering lottery-branded merchandise, gift cards and cash prizes. Other promotional activities included a tour of 50 lottery locations across the state with their prize cart and a massive disco ball event in downtown Chicago that gave away $10,000 in prizes.

The Lottery's 2024 fiscal year runs from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.
