The Las Vegas Raiders defense must regroup after the loss to the Carolina Panthers

The Las Vegas Raiders have not had the start they hoped for in the 2024 season.

The Raiders have fallen to 1:2 after a surprising home defeat against the Carolina Panthers (22:36). Coach Antonio Pierce's team hardly had a good game against the struggling Panthers.

The Panthers hired Andy Dalton as quarterback the week before the game, and that decision paid off. Dalton finished the game with 319 yards and three touchdowns.

For a Raiders team whose strength lies in defense, such a performance is shocking and unacceptable. The Raiders cannot allow a team like the Panthers to come to their home stadium and lose by almost 40 points with almost no resistance.

The Raiders have big aspirations this season, but games like this are what keep them from reaching the postseason. Although it's still early in the season, the Raiders' margin for error is much smaller after this game.

However, there were positives to this defensive performance. Linebacker Robert Spillane continued his excellent play, finishing the day with 11 tackles, one for loss and a sack. Spillane has been one of the brightest stars for this Raiders team this season.

The Raiders have time to look at the tape. Then they burn the tape and move on.

Las Vegas will not rest on this defensive performance. Instead, they will learn from their mistakes and be ready to face the Cleveland Browns next Sunday. This defense has too much talent to not bounce back.

However, players like Spillane and defensive end Maxx Crosby will have to keep their team together. There will be defensive players who might sulk and want to get carried away by this performance, but the Raiders' emotional leaders will have to help young players keep their emotions under control.

This performance should not robber Defense, but it's up to the Raiders not to let their performance dictate their performance.

The Panthers were struggling on offense before the quarterback change, and after the move, it looked like the offense had taken on a whole new shape. Las Vegas may have overlooked what the quarterback change would mean for Carolina.

They won't overlook the Cleveland Browns' struggling offense with plenty of talent because they simply can't afford it.
