CUBS VS REDS – The Chicago Cubs begin their final series of the season this afternoon. And that makes today the last start Friday at 1:20 a.m. at Wrigley Field until next year. And while we're at it: That probably ALSO means that tomorrow will be Kyle Hendricks' last time wearing a Chicago Cubs jersey. I'm simultaneously VERY ready for the season to end… and at the same time very sad that it's ending like this. Again.

What I mean is… While the Cubs have secured a season of at least .500, they still need to win a game to guarantee a winning season, and they need to push through to surpass last year's 83 wins. None of this really matters – playoffs are the goal – I'm just pointing it out for reference.

If you're thinking more about the draft and would prefer the Cubs increase their chances of getting a better pick… The Cubs are currently ranked 15th in the reverse rankings, but could move up to 12th depending on how things turn out.

Aside from Kyle Hendricks, Jameson Taillon will end his season this afternoon and will be hoping to finish it on a high note (he has made four good starts in a row). And Shota Imanaga, who has not yet been announced as Sunday's starter, could also put an end to his fantastic rookie season.

Offensively, Ian Happ needs another home run to reach a new career high and another stolen base to reach his career high. This was already his best overall season, but it would be fun if he made it unchallenged.

Okay, that's it. Last series of the year. Let it sink in. Let's go.
