“The Wild Robot” and “Megaloplis”

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – When I was a kid, “wild robot” meant “giant.”

Unfortunately, “The Wild Robot” is about Rox, who is shipwrecked on an island and befriends a gosling. And I don't mean Ryan!

“Transformers One” and “The Featherweight”

Brightbill becomes Roz's de facto son, and the DreamWorks animated film is all about heartfelt feelings.

Yale graduate Lupita Nyong'o voices Roz, and even Mark Hamill makes an appearance here, who knows a thing or two about bots.

A lot of money is being made.

Francis Ford Coppola's “Megaloplis” is finally being released this weekend after decades in development. I read about it in the 90s.

In the cinema: “Speak No Evil” and “The Killer's Game”

It took so long for the always brilliant Adam Driver to take on the lead role, as an architect who argues with a corrupt mayor about rebuilding the metropolis of the new Rome.

Incredibly ambitious, but that's Coppola. Large cast including Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Fishbourne and Aubrey Plaza.

Plaza can also be seen in “My Old Ass,” an indie comedy with a gem of a structure. Plaza meets her younger self and warns her about a man she is about to meet and who she must stay away from.

Don't we all have one of those? And will she? Probably not.
