The Tigers return to the top of the batting order when Meadows makes a groundout against Gimenez, then Carpenter can't keep his momentum going on a low curveball that gets blocked in the dirt and thrown for the second out. Vierling hits a grounder to Rocchio for the third time, as Bibee hasn't allowed a hit since that mound visit in the second inning.

Kwan comes back and scores to left field for a single, his ninth straight game with a hit. Kyle Manzardo comes to bat and hits a sharp drive to right field for another single. Things start to look like Game 1 again when Jose Ramirez shows up. He had a quiet ALDS and it continues as he flies to Riley Greene in left field for the first time. Comerica Park is rocking and ready for Game 4 of the ALDS. Reese Olson gets the start for the Tigers and Steven Kwan continues to lead the bat for the Guardians. Olson throws a fastball for first strike and we're on our way.

Before the game

The Tigers are now just one win away from reaching the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2013, but they must defeat a Guardians team with their backs against the wall in Game 4 of the AL Divisional Series.

On Wednesday, the Tigers took a 2-1 lead after a 3-0 shutout against the Guardians. Detroit's pitching has shut out opponents 20 consecutive innings, which is a franchise record for Cleveland. All three games in this series were shutouts.

Reese Olson will start for Game 4. The right-hander provided relief in Game 1 when he replaced Tyler Holton in the first inning and gave up a three-run home run in his first pitch. But Olson was only charged with one earned run as he pitched a total of five innings with four strikeouts while giving up just three hits.

Meanwhile, the Guardians have Game 1 starter Tanner Bibee for this contest as he threw four shutout innings and six strikeouts. This will be the sixth time this season the Tigers have faced Bibee, and the Guardians are 4-1 early against Detroit.
