The Tijuana Xolos host Club America at the Estadio Caliente for a match in the Liga MX 2024 Apertura this Wednesday, October 23rd.

This is one of Club Tijuana's most anticipated home games, with a large turnout expected at the Border City Fortress.

The Border City Dogs are on a three-game winning streak and picked up a surprise 2-1 away win against Necaxa. The Xoloitzcuintles also defeated Pachuca and Mazatlan in that run, but now face a more important test at Club America.

Xolos also have a tremendous home run of six games unbeaten going into this game and have not suffered a defeat at Mictlan all season. Club Tijuana is currently in sixth place with 23 points with just five games remaining in the regular season.

Club America is the current Liga MX champions but has struggled this season and sits in 10th place with 17 points. The Mexico City team earned a huge 3-0 win over Santos Laguna, ending a three-game winning streak in the league.

Las Aguilas have an extremely talented squad with players like Diego Valdes, Javairo Dilrosun and Alvaro Fidalgo. However, there were inconsistencies on offense with only 16 goals scored, which is the second lowest figure among the current top 10 teams in Liga MX.

Still, Club America's defense was rigid, especially with Luis Angel Malagon in net, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

Club Tijuana comes into this game as favorites, but there isn't much separating the two teams. A win has the potential to move the Aztec Canines to third place in the Liga MX standings.

Coach Juan Carlos Osorio has been deliberately tinkering with the offense lately, at times playing with or without a natural striker. The midfield has scored all five of Club Tijuana's goals in the last three games, with strong performances from players such as Kevin Castaneda and Efrain Alvarez.

Since the Xoloitzcuintles have been successful in this campaign, it is difficult to predict how the audience will be divided due to Club America's huge fan base. There are usually fans who have traveled from as far away as California and neighboring US states to watch Las Aguilas play in Tijuana. A tense atmosphere is expected at the Estadio Caliente, which has the potential to be a very exciting game.
