“Tom Selleck on the 'frustration' over the cancellation of 'Blue Bloods'”

Tom Selleck admitted he was “frustrated” with CBS’ decision to end the lengthy police procedural Blue blood.

In a new interview with TV Insider, the star — who portrayed NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan for nearly 300 episodes, 14 seasons and as many years — talked about feeling like the primetime series was “always taken for granted.”

“I'm kind of frustrated. During these last eight shows (Blue blood will end with eight episodes that will air on October 18th at 10 p.m.), I didn't want to talk about an ending yet Blue blood But that it is still a great success,” he said, adding that the series performed at the top in terms of total viewers during last year's broadcast season, reaching the top 10 when excluding the top football programs. Despite averaging 8.1 million viewers – a feat in today's broadcast landscape – the series is in danger of extinction, likely due to the financial strain required to keep a long-running show running.

He continued: “I'm not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, 'Get off my lawn!' I don't believe in holding grudges, but if you said to the television station, “Here's a show you can schedule in the worst timeslot you have, and that will guarantee you'll be on Friday night for the next 15.” Gain years.” “It would be almost impossible to believe.”

“I'm frustrated that the show has always been taken for granted because it worked right from the start,” he said Friends said the actor. “How do I feel? It's going to take a long time to sort this all out. I remember after the weekend (shooting the last episode) I said, “I have to go to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.” Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take a while.”

Selleck has previously expressed his distaste for the network's cancellation, saying back in May that he hoped CBS would reverse the decision. “I will continue to expect CBS to come to their senses,” the Emmy winner said at the time. “We are the third most scripted show in the entire broadcast area. We win the evening. The entire cast wants to come back. And I can tell you one thing: we are not slipping off the cliff. We do good shows and still keep our place. Well, I don't know. You tell me!”

His comments followed a press conference led by Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, which confirmed the finality of the series. “We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows must come to an end. It is important for us to refresh the schedule. We will end the show in December,” she said as reporters reminded her that cast members had called for the show to remain on air.

Blue bloodwhich first premiered on CBS on September 24, 2010, is about the members of the fictional Irish Catholic Reagan family, who have already worked in law enforcement in New York City.
