Top 25 Alabama High School Football Rankings (10/24/2024)

It's that time of year, everyone. High school football games took place across the state of Alabama from October 14th to 19th and there was plenty of great action.

The No. 1 team in the Yellowhammer State remains Auburn after defeating Central-Phenix City, which entered a few weeks ago, followed by the Saraland Spartans and Oxford. As you can see in our rankings, things are getting a bit tumultuous as we are now officially halfway through the season.

Here is the complete breakdown of Alabama's elite high school football teams as we see them heading into Week 9 of the 2024 season.

It's time for Auburn to move up to No. 1 after their narrow 38-33 win over the Red Devils against Phenix City Central a few weeks ago. A great win for the Tigers that earns them the top spot.

Saraland is coming off a 64-7 win over Murphy last week. KJ Lacey has thrown for 1,493 yards and 21 touchdowns this season.

The Yellow Jackets move up in the rankings after picking up a strong 21-10 win over Clay-Chalkville. Huffman, Florence and Buckhorn are still on the program in Oxford.

Their only loss of the season came against No. 1 Auburn, but a surprising win over Phenix City Central (23-14) catapults them onto this list.

After being No. 1 for all these weeks, the Red Devils have now fallen into a bit of a freefall. A loss to Auburn was first followed by a loss to Opelika.

The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season last week, 21-10, against Oxford. Clay-Chalkville will look to bounce back against Pinson Valley.

Hoover continued its turnaround season under Chip English, narrowly defeating Thompson 27-26. The Buccaneers have been an impressive group this fall.

I have to feel bad for the Warriors because they lost all three games this season by one point. Ouch.

The Wolverines lost to Phenix City Central 31-26 and then fell to No. 1 Auburn by two points. It's definitely a difficult phase for these guys, but we won't take them back far because of it.

We can't place Hewitt-Trussville too low on the list because of their 15-10 loss to Thompson a few weeks ago. The Huskies easily defeated Oak Mountain 63-0.

The Vikings kept the good times rolling as they earned a 35-31 victory over a ranked Baker team. This week, Mary G. Montgomery meets Davidson on the road.

Not many teams can currently claim to be playing as well as Spain Park. The Jaguars remained undefeated after a 42-7 victory over Calera.

The Aggies left no doubt on the field as they cruised to a 48-0 victory over WS Neal.

The Hornets lost their second game of the season when they narrowly lost to Mary G. Montgomery 35-31.

The Wildcats bounced back from a 30-13 loss to Opelika last week with a 42-0 win over JAG. This week the Enterprise takes on Smith's Station.

With a 46-22 win over Beauregard, the Volunteers ensured they maintained their undefeated record. Another solid win for Central of Clay County.

Impressive win after impressive win for the Toros, and they have another one under their belt with a 31-15 win over Gulf Shores a few weeks ago.

The Wolves climbed into the rankings last week after defeating Faith Academy 48-7. Vigor followed that up with a 19-2 win over Williamson last week.

All three losses came to teams included on this list: Clay-Chalkville, Oxford and Parker.

Quarterback JL Davis has played really well this season, completing 95 of 158 passes for 1,563 yards and 17 touchdowns with just two interceptions.

It's not often that you lose a game and catapult yourself up the rankings, but a few weeks ago a 19-14 deficit to No. 3 Saraland tipped the balance.
