The 2024 college football season continues, with Week 5 already underway. Several quarterbacks have already begun to gain momentum and establish themselves as Heisman Trophy contenders.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward had the advantage of being in the spotlight in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup against Virginia Tech on Friday night.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe faces a tough test this week, while Ole Miss quarterback Jackson Dart leads the noon games and Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava remains inactive in a BYE week.

Here's a look at the top five players in Heisman odds and what each of them looks like at this point in the season:

1) Cam Ward, QB, Miami (+400)

Ward entered Week 5 as a leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy, ranking first in passing touchdowns with 1,439 yards (14) and second among FBS passing leaders.

Ward increased his season totals with a dramatic win over Virginia Tech on Friday night. He finished the night completing 24 of 38 passes for 343 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown.

2) Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss (+450)

Dart remains a strong contender for the award, entering the week as the FBS leader in passing yards (1,554) and second in completion percentage (79.8%).

He completed 95 of 119 passes for 1,554 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has thrown two interceptions this year.

3) Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama (+700)

Milroe will have a chance to improve on his performance with a solid performance this week at home against Georgia.

The quarterback has showcased his dual-threat abilities, contributing to the Crimson Tide's offense as both a passer and runner. He has completed 35 of 52 passes for 590 yards and eight touchdowns in three games this season. Milroe also rushed for 156 yards and six touchdowns on 36 carries.

4) Nico Iamaleava, QB, Tennessee (+900)

Iamaleava will not be in action with the Volunteers this week in a BYE week, but the quarterback has led his team to four straight wins, including two against ranked opponents.

He has completed 61 of 88 passes for 892 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions this season.

5) Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon (+1000)

The Oregon quarterback entered the week leading FBS players in completion percentage (84%). He completed 79 of 94 passes for 914 yards and six touchdowns.

Gabriel and the Ducks could be at a disadvantage when they play UCLA in the Rose Bowl nightcap on Saturday at 11 p.m. ET. Gabriel will have an advantage over the Bruins as he has a chance to give the Ducks their first win in the Big Ten Conference after a bye week.
