After the Chiefs' Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals – in which Kelce had just one catch, the first time since September 2018 that he didn't have three or more in a game – Kelce said he was no longer worried about his statistical bottom line.

“I stopped caring about stats about four or five years ago,” he told his brother Jason Kelce on their podcast “New Heights” on Sept. 18. “I just went out there and started playing freely and making plays for my guys. I think that's definitely the better mindset. You think more about play by play and what your job is on that particular play.”

Kelce continued, “For some reason, things haven't been going my way the last two games. That's football, man. I'm not going to sit here and be upset about it. I used to get really, really mad and almost lose it because I didn't have success, because I knew that was what I was asking of myself. I just like playing the game with such a high level of responsibility that it's hard for me to deal with being mediocre or having stats that reflect that.”

The Chiefs return to action on Sunday, September 29th at 4:25 p.m. ET against the Los Angeles Chargers.
