Tyrese Maxey of the Sixers left the game against the Clippers with right hamstring strain

What else?

All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey left the Sixers' game against the LA Clippers on Wednesday night with what the team is calling right hamstring soreness.

In the broadcast, Maxey was seen very carefully leaving the court after the Sixers' disastrous end to the third quarter. He went back to the locker room and shortly afterwards it was announced that he would not be returning to the game.

The Sixers then lost 110-98 to the Clippers, dropping them to 1-6 on the season. Head coach Nick Nurse called Maxey's departure after the game “precautionary” but noted it would be reviewed again tomorrow.

As far as things the Sixers absolutely didn't need, a Maxey injury was probably No. 1 on the list. The 24-year-old hasn't missed a game so far this season and is averaging over 30 points per night.

The Sixers are already without Joel Embiid, who missed the first six games of the season with an injury to his left knee and was suspended for three games Wednesday night after a physical altercation with Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes.

Paul George is also still getting used to his new team after missing the first five games due to a bruised left knee bone. He looked better on Monday in his season debut against the Phoenix Suns, finishing his return to LA with 18 points (7 of 9), seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block in 23 minutes

The Sixers complete their three-game West Coast schedule on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers before returning home to face the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. Embiid is expected to make his 2024-25 season debut on Tuesday against the New York Knicks.
