Undecided races of the 2024 election: Live results and analysis

Of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives that were up for grabs on election day, only five are considered to be truly wrong decisions. Of these, two seats are in California (22nd and 45th Districts), one seat is in Iowa (1st District), one is in New York (19th District) and the last seat is in Washington (3rd District). District).

We may have to wait a little longer for all of these elections to be called – California, for example, has just over half the expected vote share. But what we know so far seems to indicate that Republicans will win three seats and Democrats will win the remaining two. If these trends hold true, it would only amount to one seat being flipped in favor of the Democrats: New York's 19th District. While ABC News has not yet predicted a winner, the Associated Press called the race for Democrat Josh Riley late Tuesday night. There's a lot at stake here: The New York Times reported that around $45 million was spent on this competition alone. If Riley holds out, his victory would be the second electoral victory for Democrats in the Empire State. On Tuesday night, Democratic Sen. John Mannion defeated incumbent Republican Rep. Brandon Williams in the neighboring 22nd District.

In the remaining four contests, it looks like incumbent lawmakers will pull through – but only by a thread. In Iowa's 1st District, for example, Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks leads Democrat Christina Bohannan by a margin of less than 1,000 votes and 99% of the expected vote. The second closest race could be Washington's 3rd District, where Democrats are Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez currently leads challenger Joe Kent by four percentage points.
