Updated SEC football rankings after Week 5 action

With the conclusion of Week 5 action, capped by a massive top-five showdown in Tuscaloosa, every SEC team has now officially played at least one game in conference play this season.

Here are the updated SEC football rankings after Week 5:

2024 SEC football rankings after Week 5

1. Texas A&M (2-0)

T-2. Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, LSU (1-0)

T-7. Oklahoma, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida (1-1)

12. Kentucky (1-2)

T-13. Ole Miss, Vanderbilt (0-1)

T-15. Auburn, Mississippi State (0-2)

As indicated above, SEC play has officially begun for every team in the conference, but there is a logjam in the middle of the standings early in the season because teams haven't played as many games yet.

Texas A&M currently sits atop the conference as the Aggies are the only SEC team that is 2-0.

After opening SEC play with a 41-34 home win over Georgia, Alabama will now resume conference play in Week 6 with a trip to Vanderbilt. The Crimson Tide will certainly be favorites to advance and remain undefeated in SEC play heading into this game.
