According to CBS, Trump is withdrawing from the 60 Minutes interview

CBS News said Donald Trump has pulled out of a previously scheduled interview with 60 Minutes that would have aired during a prime-time election special next week.

The election special continues on Monday Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Waltz.

In a statement, the network said Trump “chose not to attend” after “initially accepting 60 Minutes' request for an interview.” CBS News added:

Our original invitation to former President Donald Trump for an interview on 60 Minutes.

The announcement came just hours before CBS News covered a vice presidential debate between Trump's running mate, JD Vance, and his democratic opponent, Tim Waltz.

A spokesman for the Trump campaign, Steven Cheung, disputed CBS's characterization of the events, calling it “fake news.”

Fake news. 60 Minutes begged for an interview even after they were caught lying about Hunter Biden's laptop in 2020. There were initial discussions, but nothing was ever finalized or decided.

They also insisted on conducting a live fact check, which is unprecedented. https://t.co/l7xIacc1JK

Donald Trump has said he plans to conduct today's vice president debate “personally, one piece at a time.”

In a Truth Social post, the Republican presidential candidate wrote:

I'll be doing a personal PLAY BY PLAY tomorrow of the debate between the brilliant JD Vance and the extremely inarticulate “tampon” Tim Walz. I hope the cognitively challenged Lyin' Kamala Harris listens so she can once again show the world how she invents false facts and stories to change an administrative error! In any case, I'll comment on what's going on.

On the Republican side, Vance has been preparing for the debate with the congressman Tom Emmer as a replacement for roller. Like Walz, Emmer comes from Minnesota.

On Monday, Emmer gave an insight into how the debate practice went and told reporters about Walz's presentation:

Honestly, it's difficult because he's really good on the debate stage.

JD Vance And Tim Waltz Two minutes are available for the final explanations. Vance won a virtual coin toss and chose to have the final say.

There will be two commercial breaks.

CBS News has pointed out that it's up to Walz and Vance to fact-check their opponents – not the anchors.

Viewers can scan the code to follow live coverage and analysis – including fact-checking – of the debate on their website. Vance and Walz face off in the vice presidential debate

Good evening, dear US Politics readers, and welcome to our coverage of today's debate between the Democratic and Republican candidates for vice president and governor of Minnesota Tim Waltz and Senator from Ohio JD Vance.

The two candidates will face off for 90 minutes in New York City in a televised debate hosted by CBS News and moderated by the networks Norah O'Donnell And Margaret Brennan. It is likely to be the last debate showdown between the two parties before Election Day on November 5th, exactly five weeks from now.

The pair, who have had strong words for each other from a distance, are both from the Midwest with very different styles and very different messages and will bring different strengths to the gladiator ring. Vance is a skilled debater who will enjoy confrontations under the glare of television lights; Walz, on the other hand, can draw on skills he acquired during his 17 years as a public school teacher.

While vice presidential debates don't typically tip the scales, they could be important in a close race. The stakes are raised by survey results showing competition between the two Kamala Harris And Donald Trump is on a knife edge.
