Victim identified in fatal hit-and-run at Monument McDonald's | News

The El Paso County coroner has identified the victim in Monday's fatal hit-and-run crash in Monument as 47-year-old Kristy Kerst.

Just before noon, the El Paso Sheriff's Office was notified of a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the McDonald's at 765 West Baptist Road.

Monument Police responded and found an adult female seriously injured. Despite the help of the first responders, Kerst died at the scene of the accident.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, the sheriff's office said.

Law enforcement is asking for help from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the suspect, described as an adult male driving a dark-colored Chrysler minivan with a light-colored metal horizontal stripe on the side.

The vehicle had no front license plate, standard silver rims and significant damage to the passenger bumper and sides. There may have been a white handicapped sign hanging on the front rearview mirror. The vehicle may also have red paint marks on the passenger side.

In addition to the adult male driver, there was also a female passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, according to the release.

Witnesses to the hit-and-run accident or with information about the incident or the vehicle involved are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 719-390-5555.
