Video shows a fight outside the Huntsville nightclub before shots were fired

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – New video submitted by a WAFF 48 News viewer shows the fight that led to gunfire at a popular Huntsville nightclub last weekend.

Huntsville Police Sergeant Chris Jackson says something like this is rare in this area.

Jackson wants to remind the public that officers are committed to keeping the public safe when they do this and that you can help them by calling police if you see something.

Video shows the brawl that led to a heavy police presence in downtown Huntsville in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Keele Collins was at Sammy T's when the fight broke out. She says it was one of the scariest things she's ever seen.

Officers said shots were fired during that fight and the suspect was quickly apprehended.

“They identified the subject as he attempted to escape. They found him in the parking lot and arrested him. “After reviewing the evidence found at the scene, we were able to determine that Kelen Lucky was the individual involved and did in fact fire a firearm,” Jackson said.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Kelan Lucky and charged him with discharging a firearm into an occupied building. He is now out on bail.

Jackson says this area is normally safe, but when something like this happens, Huntsville officials are determined to keep the city safe.

“We are committed to making sure this is a safe place and we want to remind the public to say something if you see something,” Jackson said. “You can often tell if a situation is present before it gets out of control. We can take steps to prevent it from reaching this level.”

Jackson says no one was seriously injured in the fight and no one was hit by the gunfire.

There is no information on when Lucky will next appear in court.
