Multiple reports suggest the person in the video is 110 years old.

A video purportedly showing a “188-year-old man” being rescued from a cave near Bengaluru has gone viral on social media. The footage, shared on “This Indian man was just found in a cave. It is said that he is 188 years old. Crazy,” says the post with the video.

In the 24-second clip, two men help the old man walk. The old man with a hunchback and a white beard also leans on a walking stick.

Although the video went viral, the claim was verified almost immediately.

Multiple reports suggest that the person in the video is 110 years old and a Hindu saint from Madhya Pradesh.

X also issued a disclaimer in response to the post, saying the age mentioned may not be accurate. “Misinformation! The elderly man is a Hindu saint named 'Siyaram Baba' who lives in Madhya Pradesh, India. He is reportedly around 110 years old,” the X-Note said.

The platform also pointed to a Navbharat Times article dated July 2, 2024, which revealed the real identity of the man in the video. According to the report, the elderly man, Siyaram Baba, is 109 years old. Siyaram Baba is popular in the region and lives in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh.

Even data review group D-Intent Data labeled the viral video as misleading. D-Intent Data published that these claims are not true.

The X post also warned: “Influencers are spreading videos with made-up claims to gain limelight on social media.”
