“Virat Kohli punished us”: Rachin Ravindra makes a big comment after the third matchday in Bengaluru

NEW DELHI: New Zealand must have returned to the pavilion full of confidence after dismissing well-placed Virat Kohli on the last ball of the third day of the first Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.
Kohli's dismissal, taken by Tom Blundell off Glenn Phillips, left India 231 for three stumps and 125 runs behind New Zealand.

Kohli reached the milestone of 9,000 Test runs during his innings and shared a 136-run stand with Sarfaraz Khan, who ended up remaining unbeaten on 70.

New Zealand's star Rachin Ravindrawho scored a brilliant 134 off 157 balls and built a crucial 137-run partnership with Tim Southee (65), expressed confidence in New Zealand's position despite Kohli's resistance.

“Virat is obviously a great player, he punished us but we still have a lot of runs to go,” Ravindra said after the game.

“I was just trying to build partnerships. Partnering with Tim (Southee) really helped me, the goal was clear and we knew what we had to do. (On Bengaluru) It's a bit reassuring, even though the wicket is completely different, nice to know the surroundings,” he said.

After defeating India by 46 runs with Matt Henry's five and William O'Rourke's four wickets, New Zealand reached 402 runs and took a commanding lead of 356 runs thanks to Ravindra's century.
“It’s a nice wicket to bat on. Not really superstitious. Nice to have him (his father) here, it's his hometown and he has family here too. Great audience here too. I actually took the entire booklet (with ticket allotments) with me,” said Ravindra.
Ravindra hit 13 fours and four sixes with his knock.
