Voters in Nez Perce County were reminded of ID requirements and voting deadlines

NEZ PERCE COUNTY, ID – For those of you in Idaho who are already registered to vote, when you go to your polling place you will be required to show ID or sign an affidavit.

The best ID would be an Idaho driver's license.

“We also accept a passport, passport card, tribal ID, federal ID or permit to conceal weapons,” Nez Perce County Clerk Patty Weeks said.

All IDs must be valid and the state no longer accepts student IDs.

If you are not registered to vote, you still have time. Whether you're voting early or voting on Election Day, you'll need to provide photo ID and proof of residency to register.

“Proof would be if your driver’s license shows your current address, that’s great. Otherwise, a utility bill, rental agreement, deed, car insurance, etc. will be helpful,” said Patty Weeks.

As a reminder, Nez Perce County residents have until Friday, November 1st to vote early at the Brammer Building at 1225 Idaho Street in Lewiston. Voting is possible at this location Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is also a deadline for postal voting. In order for your vote to be counted, ballots must be received at the comptroller's office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. They can be returned by mail, dropped off in person or dropped into the ballot drop box at the back of the Nez Perce County Courthouse. Ballots received after 8:00 p.m. on November 5th will not be counted, regardless of the postmark date.
