Walz is criticized for cuddling up to George Soros' son in a luxury New York apartment: “Billionaire Nepo Baby”

Minnesota Governor and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz came under heavy criticism on social media this week for visiting the exclusive Manhattan apartment of Alex Soros, the son of billionaire liberal mega-donor George Soros.

“It is an honor to welcome Governor Tim Walz to my home in New York City!” Alex Soros, his father’s successor at the billion-dollar Open Society Foundations (OSF), posted on X on Tuesday along with photos next to Walz in front of the New York City skyline.

The post drew heavy criticism on social media from conservatives who argued that Walz's portrayal as a moderate “rural” politician was tainted by the fact that he was standing next to one of the most productive progressive families in the United States.

“Everything you need to know…” Fox News host Laura Ingraham posted on X.

“If you blink, you can see the puppet strings,” said former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy posted on X.

“An article like this does not help Kamala Harris and Tim Walz win – if anything, it hurts them,” said journalist Jerry Dunleavy posted on X. “So why would Soros post something like this? To publicly signal his power and influence within the next potential presidential administration.”

“The aesthetics of a real working man, living on earth, for old Walzy,” Daily Caller editor-in-chief Geoffrey Ingersoll posted on X.

“This guy goes around claiming to be a small-town Midwesterner who understands middle-class issues, then hangs out in the floating house in the sky of the world's biggest billionaire, the Nepo Baby,” digital strategist Greg Price wrote on X.

“Nothing screams folksy Midwestern more than the view of Manhattan from a billionaire’s penthouse apartment,” said Chuck Ross, reporter for the Washington Free Beacon posted on X.

“George was better at this than his weird son,” Daily Wire editor-in-chief Brent Scher posted on X. “Why are you posting this?”

This is at least the second time Walz has been with Alex Soros in the last month. In August, during the DNC, photos circulated on social media showing Soros, his new fiancée Huma Abedin and Walz hanging out in Chicago.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris-Walz campaign and the Soros Open Society Foundation for comment but did not receive a response.

Walz has been touted in various media outlets as a potential vice president who could help Harris win over rural voters in the Midwest. George Soros, on the other hand, is one of the most polarizing progressive figures in US politics and is often criticized by Republicans for using his enormous wealth to implement a radical left agenda.
