Washington Capitals vs. Vegas Golden Knights at Capital One Arena

Washington Capitals vs. Vegas Golden Knights at Capital One Arena

The Washington Capitals lost Game 1 of the regular season to the New Jersey Devils, but looked quicker and more skilled than last year's team. Now in Game 2, against the Vegas Golden Knights, they will look to get their first win with a slightly different lineup.

Matt Roy, who was injured Saturday, is out “day-to-day” but will miss “a reasonable amount of time” with a lower-body injury. So along comes three-time Calder Cup champion defenseman Dylan McIlrath. Jakub Vrana will also get his first sweater of the season after the Capitals' third line was atrocious against the Devils and Spencer Carbery was benched. Logan Thompson will make his first start as a Capital against his former team.

Vegas enters the game as the leader of the Pacific Division with a record of 3-0-0. They outscored their opponents 15-8. Their trip to Capital One Arena marks their first away game of the season.

The Capitals-Golden Knights game can be watched on Monumental Sports Network. The puck drop takes place shortly after 7 p.m. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have the call.
