Kamu Grugier-Hill started Sunday in place of Ivan Pace Jr., who had to miss the game after appearing on the injured list earlier in the week. On the opening drive, Grugier-Hill made his name known. On the second play of the game, Texans quarterback CJ Stroud dropped back and threw a pass that deflected off Harrison Phillips. Grugier-Hill was there to intercept the pass and give the Vikings a lead in Houston territory.

A few plays later, Sam Darnold found Justin Jefferson on third down and threw a six-yard touchdown pass that gave the Vikings an early 7-0 lead over the Texans.

Grugier-Hill was drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Eagles before moving to four different teams in five seasons. The Vikings signed him in the offseason to free up more cap space, and he has played well so far when given a chance.

Like last week against the 49ers, the Vikings defense will have to continue to make big plays to win a game like this.
