Wave of violence against Israeli football fans in Amsterdam

Supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv FC were reportedly victims of violence in Amsterdam on Thursday before and during the football team's game against Ajax.

Videos posted on social media appeared to show several fights on the street.

Spanish media reported earlier this week that anti-Israel agitators protested against the club and its fans outside the stadium where the game was being played.

Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, made an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital on Thursday evening.

“We are witnessing a pogrom against Jews and Israelis taking place in Amsterdam,” Danon said. “In 2024. This has to stop. 'Globalization of the Intifada' was not just a slogan for these terrorist supporters. I call on the Dutch government to immediately help all Israelis and the Jewish people. It is time to respond with force against these barbaric rioters.”

Danon also prepared and posted a video on X

“We are receiving very disturbing reports of extreme violence against Israelis and Jews on the streets of Holland,” he wrote. “A pogrom is currently taking place in Europe in 2024. These are the true faces of the supporters of the radical terrorism we are fighting. The western world needs to wake up now!!

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called on the Dutch authorities to take action.

As RTL reported from the Netherlands, there were dozens of arrests on Thursday evening, most of them before the game.

“There was unrest, including at the dam,” a Dutch police spokesman told the outlet. “We can’t say who belongs to whom. The groups are not easy to distinguish from each other, almost all of them wear dark clothing.”
