Weather summary for Texas: It's just gross outside…

Seasonal hot and humid weather will continue in Texas through the end of the work week. Scattered rain showers are expected this afternoon in the Panhandle, West Texas, the Border, the Rio Grande Plains and South Texas. Unlike the past two days, we don't expect a major thunderstorm threat today. However, all storms can bring lightning and gusty winds.

On Friday, the chance of showers and thunderstorms is higher in the Texas Panhandle and West Texas. Locally heavy rain is possible, with most people receiving 1/8 to 1/2 inch of rain. Some thunderstorms may bring small hail and gusty winds. With the arrival of cooler weather Saturday night, the chance of some severe thunderstorms is comparatively higher in the western Texas Panhandle and West Texas.

Temperatures will drop across northwest Texas through Sunday and early next week. Outside of the above regions, widespread rain is not expected.

We'll have to watch a tropical disturbance in the northwestern Caribbean next week as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico. This system promises tropical mischief, but beyond that, it's far too early to determine if it will ultimately be a problem for “our” part of the Gulf of Mexico or if it will stay on the eastern side of the Gulf.
