Week 5 Injury Report: Seahawks vs. Giants

Week 5 Injury Report: Seahawks vs. Giants

Injury report from Wednesday

The Seahawks held a walkthrough test Wednesday afternoon as they face a short week due to Monday night's game. The team released an estimate of the injury report if the team had practiced fully and four players had not participated, three due to injuries. Defensive tackle Byron Murphy II and linebacker Boye Mafe were among the players who did not participate in the walkthrough as they attempt to recover from lower-body injuries. Both players did not play against the Lions as Murphy is dealing with a hamstring injury and Mafe is dealing with a knee injury. Murphy was unable to practice all of last week and will start this week on the sidelines. Mafe has been dealing with a knee injury in recent weeks that has him listed on the injury report, but Monday night was the first game he was unable to play.

Tyrel Dodson was also unable to participate on Wednesday because he is suffering from a shoulder injury and is also dealing with an ankle injury. Dodson has been on the injury report for the past few weeks with a shoulder injury, but is now battling a new illness that forced him to miss today's walkthrough. The final player unable to practice was Johnathan Hankins as he is listed with an NIR personal designation.

Pleasingly, Leonard Williams and Uchenna Nwosu were among the nine players limited on Wednesday afternoon. Nwosu has yet to make his season debut due to a knee injury sustained in the pre-season finale, while Williams missed his first game of the season last week due to a rib injury. Starting safety Julian Love was also limited due to a hamstring injury that left him out after Monday's loss to the Lions. “I think he’s doing well,” head coach Mike Macdonald said. “I haven't spoken to him in the last X hours or so, but everything is fine.”

Second-year defensive lineman Cameron Young returned to practice on a limited basis for the first time this season. Young began the season on the PUP list but is now working his way back onto the field. Inside linebacker Jerome Baker also practiced on a limited basis after missing the last two games. He has been struggling with a hamstring injury in recent months and had to miss the second week against the Patriots because of it.

Seven players were listed as full participants earlier in the week, including DK Metcalf and Kenneth Walker III. Metcalf was recently listed with a hand injury, but that hasn't slowed him down as he has set a franchise record with three straight games and at least 100 receiving yards. Kenneth Walker III was also in full swing after returning to action last week. He had missed Weeks 2 and 3 with an oblique injury, but was able to return Monday night and score three touchdowns.

The Giants began the preseason week with two key rookies out due to injuries. Their first-round pick this season, Malik Nabers, suffered a concussion in the Week 4 loss to the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football and missed practice earlier in the week. Nabers has taken the league by storm as he leads the NFL in targets, is second in receiving yards with 386 and has the second-most receiving touchdowns in the league with three. Rookie cornerback Dru Phillips, who started two of the three games he played, is also missing practice. Two players were limited in practice, including Pro Bowl outside linebacker Brian Burns. Also limited was wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, who is New York's second-best receiver.
