What Nathan Wade, Fani Willis' lover, surprisingly admitted to Congress about impeaching Trump

Nathan Wade admitted to Congress that he was involved in a conspiracy with his mistress, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, to take down Donald Trump.

Republicans have subpoenaed Wade to investigate his involvement in the “politicized” prosecution of the ex-president led by Willis.

The couple has been embroiled in scandal since their romantic and financial affair came to light after Willis appointed Wade as a “special prosecutor” in the 2020 Georgia election interference case against Trump.

According to a transcript of his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee last week, first reviewed by DailyMail.com, Wade said he was a member of their “search committee” to find prosecutors who could take action against Trump.

And he sensationally admitted that the committee was set up long before Willis took office as prosecutor on January 1, 2021 – revealing that she had a long-planned conspiracy to topple Trump.

As Wade revealed, the two used to talk “daily” as she considered candidates for the top role, which she ultimately gave him despite their ongoing affair.

Wade was still married to his 26-year-old ex-wife Joycelyn until their divorce was finalized in July.

According to a transcript of his closed-door testimony to the House Judiciary Committee last week, first reviewed by DailyMail.com, Wade said he was a member of the “search committee” to find prosecutors who could take action against Trump

“We were tasked with finding someone who would serve as lead counsel in the election interference investigation,” he said.

“I suspect that the committee eventually turned their guns on me and tried to convince me to take the role,” Wade admitted.

He confirmed that the contact occurred after the 2020 election “before (Willis) took office” as district attorney.

Willis eventually secured an indictment against Trump and 18 of his Republican allies in August 2023, which the former president called a hoax and a “fraud.”

The case has been on hold since June while an appeals court in Georgia considers whether Willis should be disqualified for alleged misconduct related to her romantic relationship with Wade, who resigned in March amid the scandal.

Wade also said he met at least twice with several officials in the Biden-Harris White House.

However, he did not elaborate on those meetings and avoided direct questions about the nature of the visits with official White House staff, including people in the White House counsel's office.

Wade also confirmed that he had meetings with the congressional committee on January 6, but did not provide details.

The House Judiciary Committee called Willis' election interference lawsuit against Trump “politicized” after it was revealed that the two were dating as recently as last year.

The committee said he managed to evade answering their questions by saying he could not remember nearly 60 times during the closed-door meeting.

According to the transcript, he also admitted that he was unqualified for the special prosecutor position to which Willis had appointed him.

And he declined questions about the “personal nature” of his relationship with Willis.

Lawyers for the committee asked Wade if he was “ever worried” that if his relationship became public “a problem would arise with the case.”

“Now I'm confused because I didn't…I didn't think I'd come here to answer questions about my personal life,” he replied.

Donald Trump has alleged that Willis is trying to interfere in the 2024 election after pleading not guilty to racketeering and other charges for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election in the swing state.

The case has been on hold since June while a Georgia appeals court considers whether lead prosecutor Willis should be disqualified for alleged misconduct related to her romantic relationship with Wade, who resigned in March.

Earlier this month, Republicans tried to serve Wade with a subpoena but had no idea where he was.

In the transcript, he said he turned off his phone to take a few days after a sprain to “take care of his ankle” and also prepare for an upcoming “meditation and mediation.”

Willis said her affair with Wade was a thing of the past, but police bodycam footage showed them together when Willis' daughter Kinaya was arrested on August 24, 2024.

Trump has accused Willis of “displaying racial hostility” toward him and has called her case a “calculated attempt” to stoke criticism against him and “away from himself.”

Trump has accused Willis of engaging in a “public display of racial hostility” toward him, calling her case “a calculated attempt” to convict him and “distract attention from herself.”

In police bodycam footage exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, filmed together at the scene where their pregnant daughter was arrested for allegedly driving with a suspended license, the couple looked strikingly like a couple over the summer out of.

The footage shows them arriving in a black Ford SUV before approaching a group of police officers on the side of the road in Tyrone, Georgia.

Officers mistake the couple for Kinaya's parents, but Willis corrects them, describing 51-year-old Wade – who resigned as her special prosecutor when their affair came under public scrutiny – as “just a friend”.

Kinaya's older sister Nia, 26 – a passenger in her sister's silver Nissan Altima – had called her mother after the arrest at 7:03 p.m.

When Willis and Wade pulled up, their daughter was already on her way to the Fayette County Jail, 30 minutes south of Atlanta, on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.

She was released later that day and Wade has not been photographed in public since.

Barnes, who is also an attorney, is representing Willis in the upcoming case, which prosecutors have branded as an attempt by House Republicans to “obstruct a criminal case in Georgia and advance outrageous misrepresentations.”

News of her relationship with Wade first surfaced in January, prompting a litany of requests for documents related to his work on the ongoing Trump prosecution.

In a letter to the committee several weeks ago, Barnes alleged that Willis objected to Wade providing the documents, calling the demands “unreasonable.”

Barnes also asked the DA's office to have a representative present at Wade's interview so that Willis could “protect sensitive and confidential information related to ongoing criminal proceedings.”

“Any interview with Mr. Wade could include, but is not limited to, classified grand jury information, confidential investigative sources, and information protected by attorney-client privileges, work product privileges, and advisory litigation privileges,” Barnes wrote.

Meanwhile, the congressional investigation continues as some Trump allies continue to criticize what he calls an attempt by Trump allies to undermine Willis' prosecution of the politician.

Her case suffered a setback earlier this month when a Georgia judge dismissed two counts in the election interference case and another count against co-defendants who also pleaded not guilty

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee noted that prosecutors did not have the authority to bring the charges, which relate to the alleged filing of false documents in federal court.

The ruling meant that five of the original 13 counts against Trump in the indictment filed last year have now been dismissed.

McAfee dismissed six additional charges in March, including three against Trump.

Trump lawyer Steve Sadow said in a statement that the latest ruling shows that Trump and his legal team have “victorious once again.”
