When do polls open in each state?

play

Former Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris will face off in the November 5 presidential election.

If you plan to vote in person, it's important to know where your precinct is and, perhaps just as important, when it opens. It all depends on which state you live in, and sometimes your county or municipality.

Most states open their local polling places at 7 a.m., but some begin voting as early as 5 a.m. or as late as 10 a.m

For more information about voting and voter registration, visit USA TODAY's voter guide or visit Vote.gov and USA.gov, which is open through Election Day in some states. All times are local times.

The timing varies

Some states do not have a uniform start time statewide. Polling places are open in New Hampshire, Tennessee and Washington, depending on the county or municipality.

In other cases, there is a time window in which the survey should begin. In North Dakota that's 7-9 a.m. and in Vermont it's 5-10 a.m
