The waiting and anticipation are finally over.

The first look at what the new 12-team College Football Playoff field could look like is here, as the first CFP rankings are released in just an hour — and the Big Ten Conference is expected to play a major role in it .

Oregon, which has been No. 1 in the U.S. LBM Coaches Poll for the past three weeks, is expected to be the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday. The Ducks are expected to be joined by Ohio State, Penn State and Indiana in the CFP rankings at the end of Tuesday night.

The Buckeyes, who moved up to No. 3 in this week's Coaches Poll, are the current betting favorite to win the College Football Playoff after their Week 10 victory over the then-No. 3 Penn State, according to BetMGM. The College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday are the first of six rankings leading up to the final rankings on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Here's a look at where some Big Ten teams are currently projected by college football analysts in the CFP rankings:

How many teams are participating in the 2024 College Football Playoff?

For the first time in the College Football Playoff era, the CFP will consist of more than just four teams, growing to a total of twelve teams: five automatic qualifying teams and seven at-large teams. The CFP's previous model, in use from 2014 to 2023, only allowed four teams to participate in the playoffs.
