Where to vote, voting times and what's available to vote in Greenville

Voting in the 2024 general election ends on Tuesday. For two weeks, more than a million voters in South Carolina voted early for candidates vying for federal, state and local offices. Early voting ended Saturday.

Here's what you should know about Tuesday's vote.

When is Election Day 2024?

Election Day, or the general election, is November 5th. In the general election, voters decide who represents federal, state and local offices, including the U.S. president, the U.S. Senate and the state legislature.

What time do polling stations open and close on Election Day?

In South Carolina, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone in line at 7 p.m. can vote.

What do I need to bring with me to vote?

Residents must present identification to vote, which may be a driver's license, an ID card issued by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, a photo voter registration card, a federal military ID card, or a U.S. passport.

Can I wear campaign clothing when voting?

No. Do not go to a polling station with a candidate or party's name or slogan on a hat, T-shirt, button or pin. South Carolina law prohibits campaign material within 500 feet of a polling place.

Which referendums will be on the ballot?

During a referendum, residents vote for or against a law or initiative on a specific issue. Referendums on the ballot paper depend on where you live and can be viewed on the Electoral Commission website.

Up for vote is a nationwide referendum on an article of the Constitution asking whether it should be amended to “provide that only a citizen of the United States who has attained the age of 18 years and is at least 18 years of age and duly is registered, is entitled to vote.” as provided for by law?”

Greenville County voters will decide whether to impose a 1 percent sales tax to raise money for roads.

There are two transportation sales taxes on the ballot for Anderson County voters.

In Spartanburg, voters will hold five referendums, all related to the fire districts in the county.
