Where will the match with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy take place?

The televised match between Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler against Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka finally has a home and a date.

Golf week Plans for the event were first reported on September 4, but the event schedule and host date had not been agreed upon at the time. The game will take place on Tuesday, December 17th at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas. A formal announcement is expected later.

Titled “The Showdown,” the PGA Tour’s two biggest stars will face off against two LIV Golf standouts and will air on TNT. The timing of the broadcast has not yet been determined, although several sources say it will end in prime time on the East Coast.

In a statement about this Golf week McIlroy confirmed the match last month, saying: “This is not just a competition between some of golf's greatest champions; It's an event designed to excite fans. We are all here to put on a great show and contribute to an event of goodwill that brings the best together again.”

The showdown features four multiple major winners, including reigning Masters champion and dominant world No. 1 Scheffler. In June, DeChambeau edged McIlroy by a single stroke in a dramatic finish to win his second U.S. Open Championship at No. 2 Pinehurst. Two sources say the players will receive an entry fee but will not compete for prize money. The 18-hole play is expected to feature a mix of best-ball and alternative shot formats.

The Showdown is created by Bryan Zuriff's BZ Entertainment and EverWonder Studio. Zuriff was previously involved in The Match, a series of TV matches that began in 2018 and featured McIlroy, DeChambeau and Koepka. EverWonder Studio was founded last year by former Sports Illustrated executive Ian Orefice and backed by Jeff Zucker's RedBird IMI.
