Jeff's King of the Court pick for October 24th: Luka Doncic

There are some heavyweights there tonight.

LaMelo Ball shocked the league on Wednesday and secured the title of King of the Court, but I have a hard time imagining a dark horse repeating that feat on a small roster on Thursday. When you think of PRA (points, rebounds and assists) powerhouses, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic are the first two names that come to mind. I ruled out Jayson Tatum because he would likely fail against the Wizards, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander because his team had more talent and was a tough matchup. Victor Wembanyama was a tempting option, but Dallas kept him – relatively – at bay last season.

So I only had Luka and Jokic left. While the Denver big man should play an important role compared to Chet Holmgren, there are too many factors in Doncic's favor. First, he's fresh after sitting out the entire preseason. Rust may be an issue for some players, but not for Luka. He also faces the easiest duel between the PRA overall leaders this evening. Last year against San Antonio, Doncic averaged a whopping 29.3 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. I expect similar numbers from him tonight on the way to the crown of King of the Court.
