You can now update your Apple TV to tvOS 18.1

Apple has released tvOS 18.1, a relatively small update focused on bug fixes and performance improvements.

Apple's release of tvOS 18.1 is now available to the public on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K. As expected, there are no publicly available notes of interest for this particular version.

In mid-September, Apple rolled out tvOS 18 along with updates to its other operating systems. While Apple doesn't typically release major updates to the set-top box every year, 2024 marks the second year in a row with significant changes.

A new feature, InSight, allows you to see more information about the actors on screen. Currently, InSight is only available for Apple TV+ original movies and shows, but we expect the feature to expand to other services.

A number of new updates targeted both audio and accessibility and are now supported by Apple Intelligence. Dialogue enhancement allows for even better separation of dialogue and background audio.

A new SharePlay feature now lets users collaboratively create Apple Music playlists on Apple TV. This works by playing music in the Apple Music app and selecting the SharePlay icon in the bottom right corner. A QR code will appear on the screen for others to scan.
